Why I almost gave away ‘Efejoku’ - Lil Kesh

  Afrobeats star Lil Kesh has revealed that his breakout hit “Efejoku” was nearly given away to producer   Young Jonn   because he initially didn’t recognise the song’s full potential. Speaking on the song’s backstory, Lil Kesh admitted he was more focused on melody-driven tracks at the time and didn’t think “Efejoku” fit his musical direction, saying that he offered it to Young Jonn. However, after playing the track for music executive Olamide, popularly known as Baddo, and receiving an enthusiastic response, Lil Kesh said he had a change of heart and quickly moved to reclaim the song from the producer. Angela confirmed the split on an episode of the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast on June 18, 2025, stating she ended the relationship. She expressed respect for Yo Gotti despite their breakup, cherishing the “great, beautiful memories” they shared. Angela declined to discuss the reasons behind their breakup, stating,  “some stuff is just better left unsaid”. According to reports, the breakup stems from Yo Gotti’s busy schedule and growing business demands. Rumors have also circulated about Yo Gotti’s alleged closeness to his artist  GloRilla , but neither party has addressed the speculation.

A ctress and filmmaker   Omoni Oboli   has said that the Nigerian film industry possesses original stories that can stand shoulder to shoulder with those from Hollywood. In a video shared online, Oboli addressed criticisms of predictability in Nollywood films, noting that the true magic lies in the storytelling journey, not necessarily in an unexpected ending. “A story can be predictable, but if it’s well told, people will still watch it and enjoy it,” she said, emphasising the power of strong narrative and character development. Tems excited ahead of historic FIFA Club World Cup show

Grammy-winning Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has expressed excitement ahead of her performance at the inaugural   FIFA Club World Cup   final halftime show. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to hold between June 14 and July 13 in the United States, with the highly anticipated halftime show billed for July 13 at the MetLife Stadium. According to a statement by Global Citizen, producers of the show, Tems will headline the show alongside Colombian hitmaker, J Balvin and American pop star, Doja, of a performance that will be broadcast live. In reaction to the historic performance, Tems expressed excitement about the significance of the show. “We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment — to celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and help improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund (FGCEF).”

Afrobeat artist,  Davido  has disclosed how his encounter with American artist, Chris Brown changed his life completely. Davido while sharing how he met with Chris Brown, Davido disclosed that the friend of the American artist who is a Nigerian called him on Facetime. During the call, the friend of Chris Brown asked Davido if the song playing at the background was his song. “ I replied yes. He then titled the phone to Chris Brown and I realized he was dancing to my song at the background of the call. So that’s how we had out first conversation together”. Davido disclosed that after speaking to Chris Brown on phone, he traveled to the States and later met up with the artist. He emphasized that they instantly became friends. Davido revealed how he traveled to South Africa with Chris Brown to  perform at the artists’ show.

Actor Richard Mofe-Damijo popularly known as RMD has expressed discomfort with being referred to as a legend. In an interview on ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’, he views the title as a scam, believing it implies that he’s past his prime or nearing retirement. Instead, the 63-year-old said he looks up to actors like Olu Jacobs and Pete Edochie as true legends, feeling that they have made significant contributions to the industry. According to him, such labels can be limiting, relegating him to a category of retired or soon-to-be-retired actors. He said: “I think all those legend thing is a scam. I have my legends like uncle Olu Jacobs, uncle Pete, those are our ancestors, our legends.  “I was still watching him when he was saying Ribena children are healthy children. “So I don’t subscribe to that, I think it is a scam when they call me legend because they are trying to relegate me to that neighbourhood of retired people or should be nearing retirement. So, no, I don’t subscribe to it.”

Popular media personality, Nedu Wazobia, has reacted to a viral leaked audio linking him to hard drugs and fraud. DAILY POST reports that the leaked audio shared by a controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, alleged Nedu involvement in drugs and other fraudulent activities. VeryDarkMan accused Nedu of having close ties with some individuals involved in drugs and fraudulent activities in Turkey, South Africa, and Morocco. On Wednesday February 26 2025,  VeryDarkMan submitted a petition against Nedu  at the Turkey, South Africa, and Morocco embassies in Nigeria. S’African govt explains Why Chidimma Adetshina’s mother is being detained

South African authorities have explained the reasons behind the arrest and detention of Anabela Rungo, the mother of the reigning Ms Universe Africa and Oceania, Chidimma Adetshina , by Home Affairs. According to a Homes Affairs, she was arrested for continuing to reside in South Africa after her documentation was revoked in September last year, over allegations of fraudulently obtaining her identity documents. Rungo was detained after her arrest in Cape Town, weekend, in a joint operation by Home Affairs investigators and the South African Police Service, SAPS. Controversial singer Portable has denied accusations of attacking   Ogun State   officials who sealed his bar and uncompleted building. In a video shared on social media, Portable claimed he was asleep when the officials arrived and did not engage in any physical altercation. Ogun State Government has strongly condemned singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, following his recent violent encounter with officials from the State Planning and Development Permit Authority. The Incident took place at Portable’s bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Sango Ota where government officials were attacked while performing their duties. In a statement released by the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, on Friday, Portable was described as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal,” known for assaulting government officials without provocation. Akinmade condemned the attack, calling it “unacceptable and barbaric,” and vowed that the government would take action in accordance with the law. Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has joined the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood. Kennedy joined Nollywood a few months after being sacked by President Bola Tinubu. DAILY POST reports that Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye was appointed as minister in August 2023, and removed alongside four others in a cabinet reshuffle on October 23, 2024. The 51-year-old politician has now shifted her focus to filmmaking barely four months after her removal from the cabinet. Announcing her acting career on her X handle, the former minister shared a video of her latest project. Kennedy who is also a lawyer and entrepreneur, joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2015 and emerged the party’s first female presidential aspirant in 2023, before ultimately withdrawing to support Tinubu.

American music producer Gotti is dead

Irv Gotti, the famous American music producer, has passed away at the age of 54. Gotti died in New York City on Wednesday after months of battling a stroke. DAILY POST reports that the record producer was admitted to a recovery centre in August 2024 and had to walk with the aid of a cane. He was said to have lost a significant amount of weight following his battle with diabetes complications, which led to a minor stroke last year. Irv Gotti made a name for himself as an A&R executive at Def Jam, launching the careers of hip-hop stars like Jay-Z, Ja Rule, and DMX.
