Ondo Governor releases N2.5bn to pay pensioners
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has released the sun of N2.5bn for payment of local government pensioners that retired in 2013 in Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa who promised to clear all owed gratuities of workers in the state, said a system of regular warehousing of funds for gratuity payment to pensioners both at the state and local government levels has been put in place.
Aiyedatiwa spoke in Akure while flagging-off the 4th tranche of bulk payment of outstanding gratuities to pensioners in the state.
He said the system has assisted his administration to make bulk defrayment of gratuity of pensioners in the State.
The governor denied paying gratuity to play politics but sincerity of his administration.
He said his administration would build infrastructure and all provide welfare for wellness and wellbeing of people.
“I like to use this occasion to pledge our irrevocable commitment to this plan until the last kobo of gratuity owed retirees in Ondo State is finally liquidated.
“My administration has always taken the care of the elderly and the vulnerable. It is a matter of utmost priority without discrimination.
“I appreciated the support I received during the November 16th governorship election that gave me landslide victory. Continue to pray for my administration.
“My renewed mandate will be an era of unprecedented delivery of dividends of good governance for the benefits of all and sundry in the state.
The Head of Service, Bayo Phillip, said that the governor has always put smile on faces of pensioners.
“If people pretend not to see anything, they cannot deny this. The governor is determined to upset all gratuities in the state. This is not about party nor ethnic issue.
“The governor will continue to give the best to the people of the state,” he said.
